Hi thanks. I knew it was an early Lisa, but not that early! Wow.

I visited a gentleman near Los Angeles who was selling his entire Lisa collection, and he had two units that were used in the film (a Lisa 1 and a Lisa 2/5). I bought them both, as he wouldn't separate them, along with a machine that used to be owned by Dafax Processing Corp - which had XLerator and LSAC prototypes inside (they work, too!). That was quite a day.

All required some light refurbishing and they're tip-top now.

Wow, do you have any pictures of the LSAC and XLerator prototypes? I'd love to see them if you're willing to share!

Sure, here you go: https://imgur.com/a/jovi2gD

I don't think they're very different than the final production run, at least visually, but sigma7 certainly knows the details.

AlexTheCat123

Yeah, other than the weird handwritten serial numbers, those look literally identical to the production models. But if there are any minor differences that I'm not noticing, then I'm sure @sigma7 can point them out!

Added another L1 from someone on Reddit.

I kinda wonder if we should expand the detail kept on the tracking sheet... like add some pictures or something? As the value of these systems goes up it's kinda helpful to spot "fake" L1s...

After starting this list, I no longer believe in the "All B08B serials were exclusive to Lisa 1s that later got converted to Lisa 2/5s" theory.

My personal take is simply that when Apple started production on the Lisa, they had a line close to home in California that settled on B08B for their prefix. We know later that Apple moved Lisa production to Texas around 1983, and this seems to be evident by the A-prefixed serials that appear around this time, and by 1984 the B08Bs disappear completely.
You haven't lived until you've heard the sound of a Sony 400k drive.

Makes perfect sense. Here's another example of a (very rusty) Lisa 2/10 with a B08B serial - and coincidentally, with the same date of manufacture: https://www.ebay.com/itm/267699508027

Model Number A6S0200
Memory Option A6S0204
