A few bad blocks on a Widget
« on: Yesterday at 09:16:06 pm »

After having some success with the internal ProFile, I decided to try my hand at repairing at least one of my three Widget drives. It's been a couple of years since I tried, and how hard could it be? Unfortunately, all of them had loose coarse positioning graticules rattling around inside them, so I had to open up the drive itself and see if a repair is possible.

I am pleased to say that at least one of the drives was otherwise intact, and a few dabs of Gorilla Glue to re-secure its graticule have me hoping it can be saved. It's currently in the process of "waking up" its head movement, as stepleton might say.

But one of the drives was an absolute horror show inside. Not only was the graticule loose, quite a few bits and pieces of everything else were rattling around in there as well. I think it might have a few bad blocks... what do you think?
