So I found something strange here...

Does anyone know what this thing is?

(By the way, lots of cool pictures are in the other folders there - worth a look)

I'd assume something that tied into an adjustment, like width, and let you switch between two set adjustments with the flip of a switch. Handy if your running macworks as a dual boot configuration.

No idea, but I remember that one of the things that VintageMicros et al. found in their board reproduction was a way to switch the Lisa to use inverse video on its display (white on black). The name "LisaVision" might be a good match for this. I don't know why that product would require variable resistors, though: I would have expected something like the inverse video trick just to monkey with some logic lines, and for that a fixed-value pulldown or pullup resistor would do the trick.

ETA: Wow, lots of interesting pictures there, as you say! This one might be a new entry for your catalogue: http://adam.trideja.com/Apple%20Computer%20Pics/Lisa/Lisa%201/Prototype%20Lisa%201/

LOL nevermind, conmega is right and Ray spotted it in 2007:

or search in http://www.macmothership.com/lisacontent/signal/Signal23_April1985.html for "Pixel Switch Available". In that application, the two pots completely make sense as replacements for the vsize pot on the video board: you'd have one tuned for tall Lisa pixels and another for square Mac pixels.

On my 2/5 adjusting the height to its minimum makes the ratio about perfect for MacWorks.

This is the same as lifting the wiper pin from the height adjustment pot. If I can find an appropriate switch I will probably hook it up like that.
