Title: Prototype Lisa ROM Set
Post by: compu_85 on July 11, 2021, 12:14:03 PM
Attached are the ROMs from an early prototype Lisa 1 I got to work on over the weekend. For easier reading, I've additionally combined the 2 system ROMs into one file.

The System ROMs are marked 2.09 in pen, and do not display a version number on the screen when booting up.

The system doesn't have a serial number sticker.

Awesome! I checked against files on bitsavers, and by comparing hashes it would appear that the boot ROMs are version B ROMs: "(very rare) - development only?" according to this file (http://bitsavers.org/bits/Apple/Lisa/firmware/Firmware_Revisions.txt).

The 341-0138-BT-D.bin file matches no other file on Bitsavers, meanwhile.

The comments at the top of the version H boot ROM source code (http://bitsavers.org/pdf/apple/lisa/firmware/Lisa_Boot_ROM_Asm_Listing.TEXT) shows what changes came before and after version 2.09. It looks like showing the ROM version on startup came six months after the 2.09 release, among other useful changes and bug fixes.
