The FEdit on MacMothership claims to be encoded with BinHex, however, downloading it with wget shows that it is actually a StuffIt file. That said, I suspect the file on MacMothership is corrupted, because even after renaming it to FEdit_3.0.sit, StuffIt Expander reported an error, so that file is corrupt.

I've found another copy here, and was able to extract it without errors. Note that these are actually encoded with BinHex, which your copy of StuffIt Expander should be able to deal with.

In terms of Binhex, this web page has modern binhex and MacBin extraction tools, but idiotically, they're encoded with Binhex! When you make tools that extract encoded files, it's really a very bad idea to encode them with the same compressor/packer.... but anyway, enough ranting. :-) (I've not tried any of these btw, just googled around for modern BinHex tools, so YMMV.)

I've bcc'ed this message to the folks that run the Mac Mothership, so that the broken file can be fixed.
