Another Lisa owner from New Zealand

Hi,
I ‘m new to the group. Here is a little about me, and why I joined up.

I’m a New Zealander with a passion for historical microcomputers. To fuel this interest I started collecting classic models around 2007 or so. I very quickly realized that if I wanted working units I not only needed to collect them but also was going to have to learn to repair and restore them! (-: This was at first daunting but I’ve learned a lot and now (perversely) it’s almost kinda fun! (see http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog ).

By the middle of last year, I’d got most of the models I needed (see http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/collection ). A glaring gap was the Apple Lisa! Fortunately late last year I was able to pick up not just one Lisa but THREE!! However, none of them were working. I’ve manage to (nearly) get two up and going. The third I’ll use for parts. I’ve still got a 400k disk drive to fix (or obtain) before I’ve completed the job.

Anyway, now that I own a Lisa or two I felt it appropriate to join a group that also shared affection for these historically significant micros. I certainly consulted the posts here a number of times when I was researching and restoring the machines. I’m friends with Phil (Nama), who assisted me with getting the Lisa’s back on their feet.

I love these machines and hope to both benefit from and contribute to the collective wisdom here.
