about cleaning pcb's

I often clean silver spoons in a bucket with soda and water. (soda is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_carbonate) and a piece of aluminium foil. the chemical reaction reduces the silveroxides to copper and the aluminium gets dark. maybe the same could be done to pcb's. be aware that aluminium on the pcb's is vulnerable as well!
