No, genuine IBM PC AT's did not use 30 pin SIMM's. The PS/2 line did, but at the time IBM made there own 1 megabit chip and most of the early (~1987) 256Meg versions of the IBM SIMM used only 3 chips. These PS/2 IBM SIMMs will not work in the sun card. While apple started using 8 bit 30 pin SIMMs in the Mac Plus in 1986, it took a awhile longer for the PC folks to standardize on using SIMM's. By this time, many of the PC "clone" makers had designs that only used 8 bit SIMMs to cut costs.

The reason I say that these SIMMs are hard to find is because by the time PC makers started heavily using SIMM's (~1990), the 1 Meg SIMMs where cheap enough that most folks did not buy the 256K versions making them more rare.
