My understanding is that the Sun drives aren't restricted to MacWorks per se, but:

1. Since they aren't typically formatted to be 5MB or 10MB, there will be issues with operating environments that are coded to support only those particular sizes.
2. You won't be able to use the full capacity except in a MacWorks variant.

There may be additional issues when trying to use them with LOS that I'm not aware of.
