Perhaps I misunderstand, but I'd suppose the bigger issue is likely this:
For a dc42 file, all of the data for the image comes before all of
the tags, whereas with the BLU hard disk images, the tag data for a
sector comes immediately after the sector's data. eg.
DC42:
BLU HD image:
