Introduction to lists #1

We're currently running 30 lists. This is the first of a series of emails introducing different groups of lists. This one covers the pre-PowerPC Macs.

System6 is our only OS-specific list. It's also our newest list. The list has 70 members and just a few postings per day (some days have no postings).

Compact Macs covers the all-in-one designs with 9-10" screens, such as the 128k, Plus, SE/30, and Color Classic. The list has 319 members and averages 55 messages/2 digests per day.

Vintage Macs covers the 68020- and 68030-based Macs, so there is some overlap with Compact Macs. This includes the entire Mac II series, the LC-LC III, and several Performas. The list has 354 members and averages 22 messages/1-2 digests per day.

Quadlist was our first list and covers 68040-based Macs -- Quadra, Centris, and some Performa models. The list has 438 members and averages 22 messages/1-2 digest per day.

PowerBooks covers everything from the Mac Portable through 603-based PowerBooks. (G3 and G4 models have a separate list.) Until recently, this list had more members than any other, although the LEM-Swap list has now passed it. PowerBooks has 513 members and averaged 16 messages/1 digest per day.

Rocketeer is our list for Radius Rocket owners. The "Quadra 950 on a board" puts a 40 MHz 68040 with its own RAM in a NuBus slot -- very cool. Rocketeer has 47 members and very light traffic.
