I'd recommend replacing the adjustment trimmers on the video board:

I expect this may solve the disappearing image problem as well as fixing the unstable image, but maybe not. Let us know if it persists.
If replacements are difficult for you to get/install, you might get it to work ok for a while by just moving them a little from their current positions.
