Got it shrunk down to a more manageable 81MB thanks to James. :)

Actually, it's more like 500Mb.  If anyone has a way to shrink this down to a more reasonable size I'd appreciate it.

Here's a link to it, please don't download this unless you've got a way to shrink it down.

I have a scanned version of this manual, one showed up on eBay 6mo-1year ago, but the resulting PDF is huge since it's color.  The smallest I've gotten it down to is about 50mb.

I can put it up somewhere if there's interest.

Hi everyone,

I just got a Canon PJ-1080A, known in Lisa-land as the "Canon Ink Jet Printer." No manual was included.

Unfrotunately, I haven't had any success getting the Canon to work on my Lisa. I have been able to print ordinary text from an IBM PC, though, a la

C:\DOS> DIR > PRN

prints the directory listing to the printer without trouble. QBASIC programs running on the PC seem to work, too (at least as far as sending bytes out to the printer goes). But the doesn't work with the Lisa. So:

QUESTIONS

1. I connect the Lisa 2/10 to the Canon via a known-good port on a parallel port card (verified by booting a ProFile attached thereon) using a DB-25 male connector (Lisa side) to a 36-pin male Centronics connector (Printer side) cable---in other words, a conventional printer cable used to hook old PCs with parallel ports to old printers with Centronics connectors.

The Lisa complains about not being able to communicate with the Ink Jet Printer. Could there be an adaptor or different kind of cable used between the Lisa and parallel printers than what's used with PCs?

2. I've been trying to see how much a PJ-1080A my Canon really is. Rumor has it that they were available with multiple different ROMs, and rebadged under multiple guises. Canon, for example, seems to have rebadged the PJ-1080A as the CGP-220, but some sources (e.g. [1][2]) suggest that the ROM is different; anyway, CGP-220 control codes don't seem to work with my PJ-1080A, at least not all of them.

Does anyone happen to know the control codes for the PJ-1080A?

3. Does anyone have a scanned PJ-1080A manual?

Thanks,
--Tom
