Thanks James,

It seems then that I don't have the necessary z chip plus piggy back ROM to  accomplish this after all.  I imagine they are as rare as hen's teeth.  Oh well.... I guess the Profile will just stay as a cosmetic decoration to my Lisa 2/5.   I've got the X/Profile CF card solution in my Lisa 2/10/Mac XL computer so at least one unit can show off the Lisa suite to interested parties

No, you can't take the Z8603 + its piggyback EPROM from the Widget and use it to LLF a ProFile.

To Low Level Format the 10MB ProFile, you need the "4K" Z8613 (along with the specific 10MB LLF EPROM).

To Low Level Format the 5MB ProFile, you need the "2K" Z8603 (along with the specific 5MB LLF EPROM). In theory, a "4K" Z8613 could also be used, but I believe this would require some changes to the EPROM.

Some Widgets have a Z8603 with piggyback EPROM installed, and those can be used for the 5MB LLF, so long as you change the EPROM to the ProFile LLF EPROM.

Other Widgets have a Z8 without the piggyback EPROM socket -- these can't be used except in a Widget.

Widgets have their own LLF built-in without part changes.

Of course you also need the host and software to issue the LLF commands, such as the Apple /// with Apple's LLF software or Lisa with BLU.

Good luck!

James

I want to low-level format the Profile 10MB drive with BLU.
NeXT suggested the one in my (also non-working) 10MB Widget drive.

The question is (assuming the EPROM is still viable), can I just
drop this Z-chip with it's piggy-backed EPROM into the Z-chip socket
on my 10MB Profile and expect it to work?  Does anyone know?
