Excellent! I'm very glad you've found the info useful so far, and I hope Ian can confirm the new pattern matches his experience.

We are still short info on bad parity chips, hopefully a volunteer will magically appear...

Gilles suggestion of doing it with an emulator is intriguing, but I think it can't provide the much needed chip level confirmation of theory, so I'm reluctant to ask him to work on it. It could certainly be better than nothing.
