I presume you're using the ones from the Call Apple website, if so, I was able to replicate that crash. The System Disk image you're using has something wrong with it which causes the emulator to crash.

I was able to make it work with the one named "Lisa MacWorks 30 Mac Sys.image" at this URL:

BTW: If you are using the "H" ROM or any non-screen modified ROM, you should use the "raw" display mode so that you get square pixels.
