MacXL - Crash from stuart_tom_at_email.domain.hidden on 2006-04-17 (lisalist1)

I've powered it up after 8 years.

Now I remember why it's been down..

When it starts up, I get a screen random pattern and the machine doesn't change.

Machine:
MacXL w/ 16mhz 2x2Meg Simms Xlerator Board 20 meg Sun Drive

Trouble Shooting so far:
- with drive in, boots to screen patttern, harddrive
light:on-off-on-off-quick flash, repeat.
- above, with boot diskette in, same, but ejects diskette after 1
minute

with no hd, with boot diskette, screen pattern, nothing else

In all cases, power button is disabled and I've got to unplug to power down.

Ok, any suggestions ? I don't want to wait another 8 yrs !!!
