Lisa low-level hard disk formatting disk (was -- Re: Rotated Lisa Screen)

Hello Rudolf,

I looked at the disk image you attached and this disk seems to be the Lisa Test disk. I don't think this has anything to do with hard disk formatting, at least this my take but I may be mistaken. Others with more knowledge in this area may reply with definitive answers.

The disk is a Lisa Monitor disk which has lots of Lisa Test files.

My understanding is there is a special formatting program for Lisa Widget hard disks that runs only on an Apple /// computer. I know for sure that was the case for the Apple ProFile hard disk and believe this is the same situation for the Widget drives.

Also, a special controller board ROM may be needed for the Widget to support formatting. That is the case with the ProFile and I suspect Apple may have done the same wtih the Widget.
