Xenix Installation Problem

I am trying to install Xenix on my Lisa 2/5 using images on bitsavers. The boot diskette is behaving oddly, though. Every time a command is excuted it spits out complaints about "fd1 write protected", followed by a disk error message with status codes. If "fd1" is the internal floppy, the diskette is NOT write-protected. If I run hdinit, it again starts spitting out those messages along with a litany of complaints about being unable to create links before failing. The IDEFile indicates no attempts at hard disk access other than a single read of Block 0.

Something tells me this boot diskette may be configured for hardware other than what I have here. Anyone seen this before?

Steve
