I agree with you, now I use WD 40 to remove the first "dried" grease layer from the floppy. Afterwards I use a special Shell product called "WIK700 or WIK 500". This "oil" was especially made for lubricating video recorder head drum mechanical parts. Another similar product is "GP Hypoid 90" from Esso.

Please note: less oil is sometimes better than more, don't contaminate the magnetic heads with oil residue.
