Lisa software other than the Lisa Office System (aka Lisa 7/7) from Apple was not numerous.

Apple did provide a large list of such software when the Lisa was still a commerical system, but the majority of these programs were simple ports that ran in the Lisa Workshop or Lisa Unix/Xenix environments and not in the Lisa Office System WIMP (windows, icons, mouse pointer) environment.

There was a Lisa Calendar and appointment program from Videx that ran in the Office System. Compugraphics (right name?) had a very expensive typesetting system that sold for something like $30,000 and included a laser printer. Apple used this system to print its Lisa user manuals. Believe a few other WIMP programs existed, but not many.

There was also a Lisa Unix (actually Xenix from I believe Santa Cruz Operations [SCO]) which ran its own programs, but these were not WIMP programs. CP/M was also avaliable as an environment, at least Digital Research said they were working on it but I never think this actually was released.

Microsoft even had its hand in the Lisa. I recall reading in an interview with someone at Microsoft (Bill Gates?) that they were working on Word for Lisa, but suspect the Macintosh's introduction in 1984 ended the Lisa Word project.

Apple had hoped that the Lisa Toolkit development system would produce more Lisa programs but this toolkit was not available until after the Lisa was released to the public so there was never much done in this area. Then Apple cancelled the Lisa in mid 1985 (1.5 years after its January 1983 introduction) which ended Lisa 3rd party development.

For a wonderful little article about the Lisa's potential you should read Michael Posner's alternate Lisa history in which Lisa becomes the dominate system for Apple, Macintosh is retired, there is a Lisa II model with a 68020 CPU (a la Mac II), color video, improved Office System called LisaWorks (a la Apple Works for the II), etc. I have a copy and will find and paste to this Lisa group soon.

Concerning the Lisa II, Apple did have a color Lisa internally and also plans for a 68020 model.

Some top people in Apple (not Steve Jobs) thought that the best aspects of the Lisa and Mac architectures should have been combined: Mac hardware + Lisa software. This would have made a much cheaper "Lisa" that would have served Apple much better than the Mac architecture which was very limited. Some in Apple even produced a multi-tasking virtual memory OS for the Mac based on the Lisa OS called OPUS back in the mid 1980's. Alas, Apple's executives in their infinite loop wisdom did not see this as neccessary and instead tried to extend the Mac OS which took millions of $ and many years to get something that was not very good overall. Eventually, the Unix weanies at Next took over Apple and turned the Mac into a Unix machine (OS X).

Note that Apple's HFS file system was based on the Lisa OS file system, the patent for HFS lists one of the Lisa FS people, Chris McFall. HFS replaced the original MFS FS when Apple introduced the Mac Plus in 1986.
