You need to run the application named "Hard Disk Install" to prepare the Widget (or ProFile or X/ProFile) for use by MacWorks XL.

At least, this is how one does it with a real Lisa, perhaps there is a further trick for the emulator.

Hard Disk Install is (should be) on the MacWorks XL System Disk (2.0 and later), so you:

  1. "startup from" the MacWorks XL Boot Disk, then
  2. insert the System Disk to load the Macintosh System, then
  3. run Hard Disk Install from the Finder

If the hard disk is shared with a Lisa partition (Office System or Workshop), then you will need to use the MacWorks XL Boot Disk each time you want to run MacWorks XL.

If the disk is not shared, you will be prompted to insert the MacWorks XL Boot Floppy; thereafter, you may "startup from" the hard disk to load MacWorks XL.
