Don't do that.
It's worth it to hang on to the drives without damaging them further
until there's a solution available.
i.e. a way to low level format Widgets.
It may well be the case that the one doesn't work just has a jammed
brake and could be fixed.

There are other options too. Try to find a profile drive, or try to obtain one of the modern replacement drives (i.e. X/Profile).
