No, not a brake. There is no contact between this object and the plate on the motor. It's a speed sensor, I think, working without contact (magnetic ?)

You can ! I removed the battery, and suspect that on one of my two IO board, one or more track was broken. This IO card does'nt work very well, I do not have mouse control, for example.
