Thank you for your answers! It seems that you're right and the disk has problems with the spare tables.
I took another widget disk and LOS could be installed immediately! (wow, it's really fast..it only took 10 minutes ;-) I also reserved space for MacWorks.. how can I activate this space or make a dual boot system?

The error message on the first disk was "cannot write to the disk" and then it aborted.
The disk boots without problems into MacWorksXL - I also saved the files from the widget to diskettes without reading problems or something like that.
How can I check the status of the disk? is there a test program around?
