Try disconnecting the ProFile, restart the Apple /// and the ProFile, then connect the ProFile when everything has booted up and the software is ready to start.

That is normal. For a new/raw or damaged disk, there is unlikely to be anything worth testing. In particular, until an LLF is performed, there is no track/sector (ie. servo) information on these disks.

Check:

The Z8 socket on the controller board may be oxidized or the contacts may have lost their "compliance" or springiness. Bending the leads of the Z8 so they are slightly splayed out (eg. to match the original Z8) may help.
