James was correct again. I had to tell LOS preferences that the #3 slot will be used for the 2 port card...then shutdown swap the card over. Plugging the SCSI card back into slot #2 at this time caused freezes, untill I removed the SCSI card and shut down this slot, then reinstalll the SCSI card and everything works.

Brilliant!
