I have a similar problem with my emulator, the boot ROM (H) sets a 00 for the boot device while the boot sector on the profile needs to determine if it is a floppy or a profile boot. With Apple-3 the code is correct and I have the "boot:" prompt.
I also found that if a profile is formatted and LOS installed, the hdinit fails with a core dump (for a stack overflow). It took me a long time to analyse but it seems more a Xenix bug than an emulator issue.
For now I can't go further in Xenix installation because the disk emulation is not totaly accurate with disk detection. Only the first disk of the system distribution can be installed, the second is not detected.
