I am no *nix expert, and am guessing at various things, but this is what I have been doing:

Notes:

  1. Xenix checks the I/O ROM version (A8 vs 88 for Lisa 2 vs XL). It then uses this to decide whether pf0 is 5 MB or 10 MB.

Although hdinit asks if your drive is 5MB or 10MB, which implies it will accept either, I have found that other parts of xenix assume the size of the drive will correspond with the I/O ROM version.

Therefore, I believe that xenix will not work properly if you indicate a size other than 5 on a Lisa 2/5 and 10 on a Lisa 2/10.

2) Using Lisa Xenix on an X/ProFile requires patching the boot disk, instructions here:

  <http://sigmasevensystems.com/xpf_xenix.html>

3) If you have the Tecmar 4-port serial card, it can be used with Xenix for terminals. I hope to write this up for the lisafaq sometime.

4) Additional ProFiles can be connected (beyond the install offering of /usr on a separate one). I hope to write this up for the lisafaq sometime.

HTH, James
