That did the trick! Thanks. Yes, so as you've said, it probably does something a bit unexpected when it probes the expansion port slots that makes LisaEm die.

Turning on the dual parallel port card in each of the 3 slots probably makes it do something else which doesn't cause LisaEm to die. It of course makes the Lisa boot ROM menu look ugly, but I can live with that. :)

I'm in GEMDOS now. It's cute. So it's kind of a cross between CP/M and DOS. How do I start the graphics mode? GEM.PRG says file not found. GEMVDI.PRG said it loaded itself in memory - I guess the way old DOS TSRs did. EXIT GEM.PRG just hung the OS.

The help command works, but there's no more command, however, if you hit Control-S / Control-Q it does XON/XOFF paging. But you have to be quick. I tried a | character, but it came out as a ? for some reason, so couldn't find if it supported a more command.

Interesting how the echo command is sort of C like with /r /c /n being used as tokens, and they're forward slash instead of black slash. It's a weird mix of different stuff. Received on 2010-03-22 11:40:17
