Just checked the schematic a second time.

NO its NOT the Q1 !!!!
The error is definitely in the socondary part of the unit NOT in the primary, where the MJ8505 is placed and still working, because else you'll never hear the click-click-click :-) from overcurrent Look at T3 the transformer coil. All the diodes on the right side of T3 on the schematic, could cause such an error you described: CR7,8 11, 18 and with less than 10% of all cases you have a weak cap like C 15, 18, 19, 20, 21. But I bet its the dual diode ! Are you shure, that you have THIS power supply, which you cann see on that schematic, or perhaps a different one?
